Books – What should I be doing?
What Colour is Your Parachute?
Richard Bolles
Worth reading, even if you aren’t looking to change career. Very insightful and you will learn a lot about yourself. He advocates practical and workable techniques for finding the job you want.
“What Colour Is Your Parachute?”: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters and Career Changers: Workbook
Richard Bolles
Practical workbook to accompany the original text.
The Work We Were Born to Do: Find the Work You Love, Love the Work You Do
Nick Williams
Another book that has well thought out and different exercises for finding your unique purpose. This book, together with the “parachute” book, compliment each other and are an ideal combination. This one asks more questions about your values and ideals. Be prepared to dig deep if you want to gain the full advantage of these texts.
The Purpose of Your Life – Finding your place in the World Using Synchronicity,Intuition and Uncommon Sense
Carol Adrienne
This is a well thought out book, and is quite different from the others recommended. The author helps you to see the purpose of your life as much more than “what do you do for a living”. This book will not help you to find a career choice, but it will certainly help you to see the greater picture. This is the book that helped me the most, as it focused on values and purpose rather than “what would you enjoy doing”.
